On the 18th of march, this happened to be the day I did my first ever charity. It was a new experience since we traveled in the night and the journey was about 6-7 hours that was a lot of time on the road. Reaching the place we were going to do the charity, the community was already waiting for us. You could see the happiness that was on everyone’s face the mothers, the boys, the girls, men, and other people around who came to join us.

I and the team were messengers on behalf of Brinah as she always does charity on her birthday. Most people would just go out with friends throw a party or something of that thought but she decided that as she is not in Uganda she mobilize us (friends and family) and put a smile on people’s faces. Seeing people happy is a nice feeling, making new friends because I did and I could say through Brinah’s effort I met new people exchanged ideas, and also got to know that some people out there don’t need a-lot they just need a little something to change there lives. Just to imagine that in kaberamaido we had to travel a number of kilometers to find a trading center where basic things like sanitary pads weren’t.
Giving these people the basic things like books, soap, toilet paper, tooth paste, pens, sugar, salt, clothes, shoes, etc the organization that they portrayed was all something new that was worth seeing and knowing, it really made them happy and you feel and see them appreciate. I would say this made me realize that If you are sincerely giving to support a cause you want to help, then it feels good. If you are giving to look good to others, it will not be beneficial to you as it is a selfish gift. The whole new experience doing it away from the areas you are varsity with with new people is alot exciting, and putting hope in people is a very good thing and its worth doing. As we left i think for all my other friends we were with felt and wished if they could give more and am sure brinah already wishes she could do it daily, seeing the women dance for us and we also joined the dance all fun, then the food was marvelous, to the extent that we finished all of it.
So it’s a nice experience doing a good cause and also having fun with new people who come together. Much thanks to Ms. Mazzi Brinah for the initiative and I hope to do it more all the time being called upon.
